Contact and Records Routing

This is a private reference service, not a jail, sheriff's office, police department, court, or corrections agency. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, pull an official booking record, or change a court file. The contact details below route Montgomery County questions to the office that actually holds the relevant record.

Do not send a booking record, legal filing, or personal identifying information to this private site. For an official answer, contact the originating agency, the Montgomery County Sheriff's FOIA officer, the Circuit Clerk, or the appropriate state or federal office.

Montgomery County Sheriff and Jail

The Sheriff manages prisoners confined in the county jail and maintains county law-enforcement records. The official Sheriff page is the best place to confirm the jail contact, visiting information, and agency role.

Jail Information line

Use for a current county-custody question. Visiting hours listed by the Sheriff are Tuesdays, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The county page lists Chris Watson as Jail Administrator and the Sheriff FOIA email as the formal records route. A phone answer about current custody is not a historical booking search or a promise that a photograph will be released.

Choose the Right Office

Use the question, not the word mugshot, to select the custodian.

  • For a county booking sheet, booking photograph, or custody receipt, discharge, or transfer record, email the Sheriff's FOIA officer.
  • For a current Montgomery County Jail custody question, call Jail Information.
  • For a Litchfield, Hillsboro, or Nokomis police report, contact the city department shown on that city's page. The official pages do not promise a public blotter.
  • For a court case, hearing, or disposition, use the Montgomery County Circuit Clerk and its Judici link.
  • For a state-prison or parole record and institutional photo, use the Illinois Department of Corrections search.
  • For a federal or immigration custody question, use the BOP or ICE locator, not the county jail phone.

The county's public-filings page supplies general FOIA contacts. The Sheriff's address and records email should be used for a Sheriff-held booking request.

City Police Contacts

Municipal police can hold the first arrest report even when the county jail holds the later intake record. Confirm the agency before sending a request.

None of the reviewed city pages supplied a fixed booking-photo fee, dedicated records form, response time, daily arrest log, or public photo policy. Ask the department how a City or FOIA request should be directed.

Records Outside the County

A person's custody can change after booking. IDOC covers state-prison or parole records, while BOP and ICE cover separate federal or immigration systems. Their photos and fields are not Montgomery County booking records. A court result remains a Circuit Clerk matter even after release.

For a news error, contact the outlet that published it. For an inaccurate booking record, contact the originating agency and ask for its correction process. A court order for sealing or expungement must be delivered to the affected custodians and private publishers that hold copies.
