How Montgomery County Data Is Handled

This Privacy Notice describes what may be received when someone uses Montgomery County Busted Mugshots, why it is used, and when it may be shared. The public pages link to the Sheriff's Office, Circuit Clerk, IDOC, city police departments, and outside record services. Those offices and services have their own privacy rules once a visitor leaves these pages.

Information Sent Directly

Search terms

A name, city, or other entry typed into the public search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. This site does not store or log those search terms on its own servers. The provider's policy controls what it keeps and how it uses the submission.

Messages and contact requests

If a visitor sends an email or message, the content and reply address may be retained so a response can be made. Those messages are not shared outside the operator's organization unless disclosure is required by law or needed to address a security or abuse issue. Do not send a booking record or sensitive court material here.

Technical Details and Cookies

Normal page delivery can produce technical information such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent
  • Referring page, when supplied
  • Visit timestamps

Cookie choices

Cookies may be used to understand page use, remember basic settings, or support partner tools. Browser settings can block or delete cookies. Some features may work differently when cookies are disabled. The public record information linked from the Montgomery County Sheriff page and the Circuit Clerk is controlled by those offices, not by these cookies.

How Information Is Used

  • Keep the pages operating and responsive.
  • Send a search request to the correct partner service.
  • Understand which pages are useful to visitors.
  • Find and repair technical faults.
  • Show advertising that may relate to visitor interests.

These uses do not make this private service the custodian of a Montgomery County arrest record. The Sheriff's FOIA officer, the Circuit Clerk, IDOC, and the city departments remain the relevant record holders for their own systems.

Links to Other Services

The pages link to county and city government offices, Judici, IDOC, BOP, ICE, VINE, local news, and third-party booking or search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's terms, privacy notice, and data practices apply. The linked service may have different security, retention, or correction rules.

Advertising partners may also use their own systems to measure activity across sites. Their tracking is governed by their policies, not this notice. A link to the county FOIA contacts or the IDOC search is informational and does not transfer control of this site to those agencies.

Who May Receive Data

Personal data is not sold by the operator. It may be available to:

  • Search partners that handle a submitted query.
  • Analytics providers that measure page activity.
  • Advertising networks operating their own services.
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order or legal duty requires disclosure.

A public-record request sent to Sheriff FOIA or a city police department goes directly to that agency and is subject to Illinois law, including the written-request framework in 5 ILCS 140/3.

Security Limits

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect information under the operator's control. No internet-connected system is completely secure, and no guarantee can be made that a transmission or stored message is breach-proof. Keep sensitive identifying details out of ordinary messages when they are not needed.

Visitors Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor submitted information, a parent or guardian may use the Get in Touch route to ask for deletion, subject to lawful recordkeeping and verification.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity checks, a visitor may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal data held by the operator.
  • Correct inaccurate information supplied in a message.
  • Request deletion of information that is no longer needed.
  • Object to or opt out of certain processing where available.

These choices do not alter a public record held by the Montgomery County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, city police, or IDOC. Corrections to an arrest or court record must go to the originating office. Requests about private-site data can be sent through Get in Touch.

Changes to This Notice

This notice may be revised when the service, partner tools, or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised practices apply going forward.
